Bovis Fine Art Bordeaux has forged a strong partnership with all the actors in the artistic sector of the southwest quarter of France. Recently, we made our facilities available for the restoration of a plaster cast. The work, titled “The Wrestlers,” is a plaster copy of an ancient Roman sculpture. The original is housed in the prestigious Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.
High-Level Restoration for an Exceptional Work
Certified restorer Madame Aline Raux, commissioned by the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne, carried out the meticulous dusting and cleaning of this plaster cast. Her intervention prepared the piece for a major public exhibition.
A Remarkable Exhibition at the Musée d’Aquitaine
The restored work is being presented to the public as part of the exhibition “Gymnasia: The Origins of the Olympic Games. Athletic Competitions and Culture in Ancient Greece,” running from March 19 to June 2, 2024, at the Musée d’Aquitaine in Bordeaux. This exhibition promises to immerse visitors in the fascinating world of ancient athletics and its artistic representations.
